The grape Pinot Grigio is a relative of Pinot Noir and the small tight bunches when ripe have an attractive blue/grey appearance, hence the Italian name, “grigio”
(grey) or in French, “gris”. It is an early ripening variety that requires gentle handling to minimise the extraction of colour from the skins. It produces a soft and gentle
wine that has wonderful finesse and substance.
The wine is made in the Northern Italian style. Picked early to retain the fresh fruit flavours of pears, honey, almonds and spice. The palate is soft and rounded out
by the use of lees contact after fermentation.
A true food wine that will accompany a variety of light pastas, seafood, salads and cold meats.
