Symphonia Fine Wines is located in the King Valley wine region of Victoria. The vineyard is at Myrrhee, in a picturesque tributary valley of the main King River system. The vineyard was originally planted in the 1990's by visionary winemaker Peter Read who realised that the climate and soils were ideal for growing then un-heralded varieties from cool regions of the world. He planted Pinot Grigio (Northern Italy), Saperavi (Georgia), Tannat and Petit Manseng (Pyrenees region of France), Temperanillo (Northern Spain), and Albarino (now known as Savagnin from North Western Spain) along with small areas of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
When Peter Read retired, he passed the torch to new owners Peter and Suzanne Evans, who maintain his legacy by devoting the vineyard to the continued production of cool climate wines of the world.
The secret to Symphonia’s success is really no secret at all. By treating our grapes with as little interference as possible we’ve succeeded in creating beautiful wines with long cellaring lives. We pride ourselves in only selling wines with grapes we grow, and by controlling the quality of our grapes we can ensure that you always experience a quality glass of wine
