Our Roots
Symphonia's story began in 1981 with Peter Read, a pioneer with an instinct for doing
things differently.
In the cool, elevated landscape of Victoria's King Valley, Peter saw the potential to grow
varieties that, at the time, were decidedly unconventional in Australia.
Arneis. Manseng. Tannat. Saperavi. Tempranillo.
It was an adventurous approach to winegrowing - one built on curiosity, character and a
willingness to follow a different path.
More than four decades later, that same spirit remains at the heart of Symphonia.
When Suzanne Evans took on Symphonia, it was not about changing what made the vineyard special.
It was about protecting its pioneering spirit - and finding a new way to tell its story.
Today, alongside winemaker Lillian Carter, Symphonia is entering a new era: honouring the
vineyard's history while bringing a fresh perspective to the wines, the bottles and the brand itself.
The wines haven't lost their character.
But Symphonia has a new face.
