Tannat is one of the main varieties of the south west of France. Whilst not achieving the same notoriety as the neighbouring wines of Bordeaux, this variety is highly individual and has long held a significant following in France.
The palate shows the richer flavours of ripe blackberry fruits and and an attractive complexity akin to the aroma of the forest floor. The wine has a firm tannin structure and enough sweet fruit to ensure good drinking when the wine is young.
This wine has the power to accompany rich savoury dishes such as cassoulet, roasted leg of lamb or a juicy steak.
